Why the Philippines Became the Most Affordable Beach Destination in October

In October, tour prices to the Philippines fell by more than 10 %, outpacing Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Bali. See how costs for popular beach spots have shifted and why the Philippines deserve a closer look.

Philippines in the ranking of affordable beach tours

October turned out to be a friendly month for anyone planning a seaside break without breaking the bank. According to ATOR analytics, the cheapest package for two people flying out of Moscow between 12 and 22 October dropped by 21 000 rubles – a little over 11 % of the previous price. As a result, the Philippines slipped out from under the fifth spot in the list of cheapest destinations and moved up to third, overtaking Sri Lanka, the Maldives and even Bali.

How prices changed for other popular beaches

Out of the nine destinations examined, only three became cheaper. Besides the Philippines, the group includes the Seychelles (price fell by almost 27 000 rubles) and the Indian state of Goa, where the reduction was just over 2 000 rubles. The rest got more expensive:

  • Bali – the most noticeable jump, prices rose by more than 24 000 rubles, reaching a little above 208 000.
  • Mauritius added about 22.5 000, becoming the priciest in the selection.
  • Maldives went up by 15.6 000, now costing around 198 000.
  • Sri Lanka increased by 14.7 000, edging close to the Philippines but still a bit higher.

The cheapest exotic option remains Jordan – its minimum tour costs about 131 000 rubles.

Why prices for the Philippines fell

The drop in Philippine tour costs stems from several factors. Tour operators bought flight seats in advance to keep prices low during the winter period, when demand traditionally dips. In addition, Russians don’t need a visa for the Philippines, which streamlines paperwork and cuts extra expenses.

Interestingly, at the beginning of October the Philippines had already shown a sharp decline – almost 48 000 rubles, while the Maldives fell by 53 000. This points to a broader trend of waning demand for far‑flung island trips in the cold season.

What to consider when choosing a tour

Even though the figures compare the lowest fare, remember that trip length, hotel class and included services can vary. When planning a vacation, check exactly what’s covered: meals, transfers, excursions.

Seasonality also matters. October is a transition month: in some regions the dry season is already kicking in, in others brief showers still occur. In the Philippines the weather is usually warm and the sea calm at this time, making it attractive for a beach stay.

How to save even more

  • Flexible dates: if you can shift your departure by a few days within a week, you may uncover even better deals.
  • Flight separate: sometimes hunting for a stand‑alone ticket and then booking the hotel yourself ends up cheaper than a ready‑made package.
  • Early booking: operators have already secured flight seats, but the remaining spots can be sold at lower rates if demand drops further.

Bottom line

The October beach‑tour market showed that the Philippines are now one of the most affordable choices for Russian‑speaking travelers. Lower prices, no visa hassle and pleasant climate make them a solid pick for anyone wanting sea, sun and savings. If a holiday is on your radar soon, give this archipelago a serious look, compare offers from different operators and pick the package that fits you best.
