Anapa Ready for Summer: 72 Beaches Already Open for Swimming

0 views

Anapa now has 72 beaches open, with eight more undergoing final inspection. Shoreline cleaning, fresh sand replenishment and Rospotrebnadzor control make the resort safe for visitors.

Anapa Returns to the Summer Season

After the massive ecological crisis caused by the fuel oil spill at the end of 2024, the resort town of Anapa is gradually restoring its beach infrastructure. According to the operational headquarters of Krasnodar Krai, 72 beaches have received all the necessary permits for the swimming season, and eight are in the final stage of expert assessment. This means that most tourists can already enjoy seaside recreation without restrictions.

How is the beach‑opening process unfolding?

The restoration of the beach season is proceeding step by step. Since the beginning of June the number of opened beaches has been steadily increasing:

  • June 11 – 49 beaches had permits;
  • June 19 – 58;
  • as of today – 72.

Each week eight to fourteen new sections are added to the list, indicating steady progress.

What is being done with the contaminated sand?

After the spill in the Kerch Strait, large‑scale remediation work was required. To date more than 3 600 kilometres of shoreline have been cleaned, some of it a second time. About 185 000 tonnes of polluted sand and soil have been removed, neutralised or recycled into secondary products. On site 775 people and 187 pieces of equipment are working, allowing the cleanup to keep its pace.

Why is the replenishment of clean sand important?

For a beach to be included in the list of authorised sites, several conditions must be met, the key one being the placement of clean sand at least 50 cm thick. This procedure is monitored by Rospotrebnadzor and is considered the main guarantee of sanitary safety. Once completed, the beach receives an official swimming permit.

What to expect from a holiday in Anapa now?

Safety and comfort

Rospotrebnadzor’s control covers not only sand cleanliness but also water quality in the Black Sea. Recent data show no new oil‑product discharges into the water, confirming a stable ecological situation.

Infrastructure

Most opened beaches are equipped with standard amenities: sun loungers, umbrellas, lifeguard posts. In some areas food kiosks and toilet blocks have already been restored, although their availability may vary from beach to beach. It is advisable to check the details with local operators.

How to check the current list of open beaches?

The list of beaches that have received permits is updated weekly. The most reliable way to get up‑to‑date information is to visit the official Rospotrebnadzor website or the channels of the Krasnodar Krai operational headquarters. There you will find complete listings as well as notes on accessibility and specific features of each site.

Practical tips for travelers

  1. Plan your trip in advance. Because new beaches are opened gradually, confirm the status of your chosen spot a few days before departure.
  2. Bring a basic kit. In addition to the usual sun protection, pack a small first‑aid kit, water and light snacks – some beaches may have limited services.
  3. Follow hygiene recommendations. Even with an official permit, it is wise to take standard precautions: shower after swimming, use your own towel.
  4. Respect nature. After the shoreline has been restored, keep it clean: do not leave litter, do not take sand or shells home.
  5. Pay attention to signs. Beaches may display notices about current restrictions (for example, zones where swimming is temporarily prohibited due to works).

What to expect for the next season?

The current summer season in Anapa is considered the first after the complete swimming ban in 2025, when 141 sandy and 9 pebbly beaches did not meet sanitary standards. It is expected that by the end of the season most of the remaining sections will also obtain permits, allowing the resort to fully restore its reputation as one of the popular Black Sea destinations.

Development prospects

Cleaning work and sand replenishment will continue until all beaches meet the requirements. Regional authorities also plan to strengthen water and sand quality monitoring and to expand online information support for tourists.

Summary

Anapa is already ready to welcome guests: 72 officially opened beaches, continuous quality control and active shoreline restoration make the stay safe and comfortable. Keep an eye on official sources, plan your trip according to the current beach status and enjoy the sea breeze in one of the most picturesque corners of the Black Sea.
